Maintenance Mechanic

SUMMARY

Responsible to act in accordance with the Lawrence Paper Company policies and procedures. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a full range of assignments using independent judgement to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations. The mechanic will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical duties and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Industrial mechanical/ pipe fitting/hydraulic repair
  • Rigging, aligning machines, and belt and pulley drives
  • Fork Truck maintenance experience is preferable
  • The ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment
  • Must be self-motivated and have good communication skills
  • Must be able to read blue prints and schematics
  • Welding and machine shop experience not required, but helpful
  • Electrical experience in D/C 12V-80V not required, but helpful

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, will be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
  • May be exposed to wet or humid conditions
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
  • May be regularly exposed to high noise environments
  • May be exposed to extremely dusty environments

 

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

The performance of the employee will be measured as follows:

  • Personal growth – while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior.
  • Employee relations – through observations the employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication.
  • Creativity – this will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.

Machine Operator

The Lawrence Paper Company, a leading corrugated box manufacturer for over 125 years, is seeking applicants as machine operators in our growing Lawrence, KS facility. Desired candidates should be committed to teamwork and will have experience in a production environment.

Applicants must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, and able to trouble-shoot problems as they arrive. The ability to read a tape measure is required. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and computer skills is a plus. Applicants must be willing to work a rotating shift; day shift is 7:00AM to 3:30PM and evening shift from 3:30PM to midnight.

Responsibilities include physical work such as feeding machines, stacking units, and learning to operate machines that die cut, print, and glue corrugated paper. We offer a competitive salary from $20.00 to $26.00 per hour.

Qualified applicants will be expected to pass a drug test and a pre-employment physical.
